To Touch Is to Transform

For years, Wired Magazine broke boundaries and published bold layouts with clever graphical design layouts that helped it win a National Magazine Award for design. But more recently, Wired demonstrated their layout chops at interpreting paper content into a touch screen reading experience. Fittingly at TED, the demo is an inspired piece of thinking.

Wired nails the demo by evolving our keyboard mouse and print experiences into a practical and useful way to use touch to better a screen reading experience. Naturally, this also corresponds with how advertising will evolve (you can see this too in the demo) and new interactivity will call for new forms of digital ads that go far beyond skyscrapers and full-screen pop-up banners.

It’s lazy to call the Wired demo an iPad experience and a bit exuberant to think it will save print publications since this is only the beginning of how we will experience content and what advertisers will do about the revolution.
